Wine Gifts
The wine must be the oldest type of
beverage that has ever graced the first magnificent banquets
that came down in history. It is even very prominent in
Greek mythology with Bacchus being the wine god. This is
the beverage that filled the golden goblets of royalties as
well as the cracked earthenware of the poor folk who were very
hospitable and gained the favor of the gods.
The wine is a beverage made from fermented grape
juice, although there are also other types of wine made from
other fruits like the apple. Wines that are not made from
grapes are called fruit wine.
Wines are classified into five categories, the table,
sparkling, dessert, aperitiv, and pop wines. These wines
most often than not complement the food placed on the table
especially during multiple-course dinners.
There are however certain wine distinctions among wine
classes that are based mainly on the differences in the
vinification manner or by which they were made or fermented
into wines. Through this, there are the rose,
fortified, blush, sparkling and still classifications.

But wines can also be classified by its taste or even by the
year that the grapes used to make the wine were
harvested. The latter is known as vintage and this
usually marks the cost of a wine because it is said that the
further back the harvest age, the better the wine
flavors. Although wines, like any other commodities could
also be classified by its quality. While there are
premium wines like port and such, there are also cheap wines of
the kind that is used for cooking.
For thousands of years, the wine has been known as a perfect
gift. When one goes to a housewarming, a birthday, a
celebration party for an early retirement or an anniversary,
bringing a bottle or two of wine would never go amiss.
While the ways of the past only calls for simply bringing the
wine in its unadorned best, banking only on the vintage year of
the wine or its quality, today it is a different matter.
Wines brought as gifts come in different eye-catching
packages and are even presented with bows or placed in baskets
or satin- or silk-covered boxes. Others could even be
personalized with the names or the important dates of the
person who is to receive the wine
gift.
Aside from coming in gift baskets, festooned with gay silk
or satin ribbons in festive colors that fit any occasion, wine
gifts could also just come in bottles or by the case.
These types of wine gifts could still be adorned with a single
bow for birthdays and other occasions or a poinsettia for
Christmas or some other flower for birthdays or anniversaries
put on the neck of the wine bottles. The wine cases could
also be wrapped in colorful wrapping paper and tied with a
ribbon with a bow on top.
There are also personalized wine gift sets and even
personalized bottles where you could make the wine a perfect
gift for a loved one or a friend by adding their names and the
date of the special occasion that befitted such a gift.
You could also pair these wine gifts
with customized cards with special messages on them for a more
personal effect. You could show gratitude, give
felicitations, extend best wishes or even show undying love
through the cards that could be attached to the neck of the
wine bottles with special cords or ribbons.
You could also tell how special you think of the person you
are giving the wine gift to by choosing the best wines from a
wide array of wine selections available in the market.
Although wines coming from that vintage year or having this
premium quality are generally more expensive than others, you
could easily get flavorful wines that could tease the palates
of your loved ones and friends without overextending the budget
of your pockets. These wines may not be as costly but
they will still be appreciated if you would put some thought in
choosing it so that it would complement the mood of the
occasion or even the dishes served for your meal. You
might want to call the host in advance and ask her what kind of
dishes she is serving. You could also find a
playfully-colored wine that could complement the motif of a
party or a celebration.
Of course, you could never go wrong if you have the money to
splurge on top quality vintage wine or vintage port. You
could even get a wine aged the same as that of that person
celebrating their birthday that you are giving the wine to
although the older the vintage year, the more the cost would
burrow deep into your pockets. You could even venture
further and give whisky, cognac or vintage champagnes for that
special occasion.
